HECTOR — Wildcat Todd Day carried 18 times for 130 yards and scored three touchdowns as host Hector defeated the Danville Little Johns 35-14 on Friday night.
Day got things going for the Wildcats with a 3-yard run at the 10:06 mark of the first quarter for a 6-0 lead.
Day returned a punt 48 yards for a touchdown to give Hector a 12-0 lead with 3:09 remaining in the second quarter.
The Wildcats set the halftime score at 20-0 after Guner Garrison completed a 30-yard touchdown pass to Jim Dixon with 36 seconds showing in the second quarter.
Danville (0-2) got on the scoreboard with 10:36 to go in the third quarter on a 8-yard run by Lawson Wilkins. He added the two-point run for a 20-8 margin.
Day booted a 25-yard field goal to give Hector a 23-8 advantage with 6:14 to go in the third quarter.
Julian Becerra scored on a 1-yard run with 9:28 left in the fourth quarter to pull the Little Johns within 23-14.
Day scored his third touchdown on an 18-yard run to give the Wildcats a 29-14 lead with 6:50 to go in the game.
Weston Brown added a 25-yard fumble return to set the final score at 35-14 with six minutes showing in the fourth quarter.
Danville’s Lawson Wilkins carried 18 times for 95 yards.
